Rochelle Amya Woodson
Dayton OSA Fellow
(she/her/hers)
Rochelle Woodson is a junior at Wright State University studying Social Work with a minor in Youth and Community Engagement. She became involved with OSA earlier this year during the Senate Bill 1 campaign while she was at Sinclair Community College, where she helped establish a chapter on campus and advocated locally for issues impacting the community. Rochelle is now a part of OSA’s staff, where she focuses on organizing and building three rising chapters around the Dayton area.
Her passion for organizing and social justice is rooted in several life experiences. Growing up the oldest daughter, and as a young Black Queer student in a religious predominately white community, she witnessed the barriers and inequities students like her faced. Even before college, she was driven to do something about mental health awareness, safety, and equal access to education. These all push her in her work with OSA, where she continues to fight for students and their right to have a voice, to equality and to justice.
Outside of organizing, and her studies, Rochelle loves writing poetry, reading, music, performance, animals, and spending time with her loved ones.
